Appraisal Statute of Limitations Colorado Legislative Informational Meeting

August 14 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Join us on Monday, August 14th from 7-8 PM via Zoom for a special info session!

This special meeting will focus on pending legislation to be introduced in the Colorado legislative session starting in January 2024. The focus of the legislation is appraisal liability statute of limitations. Currently, as many of you may know, there is no statute of limitation with regards to a lawsuit against an appraiser in the state of Colorado.  While USPAP designates record keeping rules, there is no law prohibiting legal action against an appraiser after the expiration of the USPAP records keeping requirement. In the state of Colorado, an appraiser can be sued at any point in time for work completed in the past, regardless of report and/or effective date. The pending legislation would limit lawsuits against appraisers to 4 years or less. Several other states have passed similar legislation.

Your input will be valuable in shaping the final bill as it is introduced to the Colorado Congress. NO CE WILL BE ISSUED.

Presenters: Maggie Moxlie (NCAREA representative to the Colorado Coalition of Appraisers and Secretary, Colorado Coalition of Appraisers), Warren Boizot (Treasurer, Colorado Coalition of Appraisers) and Michael Carroll (President, Colorado Coalition of Appraisers).
